What kind of wall do you have? Our wall in our bar wasn’t smooth but we used the decals anyway, they started to come down too but we just smoothed them out with our hands a few times and they’ve stuck ever since, almost 1 1/2 years.
I would definitely contact the company and find out what the return/exchange policy is. I wouldn’t add any sort of glue’s.
The vinyl on wall decals are like glue. So, it can easily harden and lose its stickiness. However, you can try to warm up the decal to melt some of the glue to restick it to your wall. So, grab a hair dryer and start blowing that bad boy on your wall sticker and push down to smooth it to the wall. Whatever you do, don’t remove the wall decals and then reapply. It just won’t work.
I was going to ask if you hung on freshly painted wall. most paint needs 48 hours to cure…and with summer humidity may be more like 72+…which is when it totally dries. Thus, hanging the decals up to soon put moisture on the adhesive background causing them to fall. I would venture to say you will need to re-purchase or see if IKEA would kindly replace?
we hung some last week too and they are doing great– in fact i tried to move one and it was really hard to remove, so i know the adhesive is great. they’re jungle animals from kohls, and flowers from jc penney.
The surface in which you’re sticking a decal on wasn’t thoroughly cleaned The surface in which you’re sticking a decal on has residue on it Your wall isn’t painted or is painted with low quality varieties Your wall is textured Your decal or the surface in which you’re sticking a decal on is too cold Warm the decal and smooth down the areas that aren’t sticking
We got them from Ikea, so I dunno. They were not expensive, but the other paint goes with the decals being up. The one thing that we may have done wrong is hung them up on freshly painted walls. The paint had dried, but I guess maybe it was still “fresh”? I want something that will hold them up better.
I got my decals from dalidecals.com and never had an issue with them peeling off at all, I kept them up for almost 2 years.
Lastly, replace those wall stickers with quality ones. Fortunately, replacing them with premium wall stickers from The Decal Guru means you won’t have to do an emergency search for “when wall decals won’t stick” ever again. Stick ‘em right the first time and you’ll never have to stick ‘em again.
1) Dont’ use semigloss or gloss paint – stick with eggshell or flat.
Maybe the brand is no good? and you just need to return them and start fresh. I cant think of anything that will make them say, unless you painted on sometype of glue/water mix. there is something that crafty people use to make things gloss, but heck cant remember with my preggo brain! Good luck anyway!
You must have extremely smooth walls, no texture of ANY kind. I had trouble with decals in my son’s room a few years back. Nothing worked (we didn’t want to use glue as we were selling the house a year later). When we changed rooms with flat walls they worked well. This time I painted the huge mural and clouds on my LO’s walls. Problem solved.
The whole point of wall decals is to not have to do all the hard work of painting or wallpapering.

Even when paint is dry I think it has to cure. It may have still been letting off some chemicals or moisture that was not obvious. Our decals also needed a little pressing down the following week but I haven’t seen them start to come up again. I think it depends on how much it is coming up…is the whole thing peeling off on it’s own??
If the reason your wall decals aren’t sticking is the result of a textured wall, you can try to smooth out the bumps with a small, hard ball such as a tennis ball. Roll it over the surfaces and work it into the wall with hopes the crevices will form around the texture.
What you might want to consider doing, if the decals aren’t whopping huge, is getting some nice picture frames and mounting them like paintings in the frames…you can glue the right on and not worry about damaging your walls with the glue this way.
3) Humidity is just never a good thing, whether it’s a decal or full-on wallpaper.

While we never recommend using glue on your walls, this is an option if there are edges or pieces of your wall decals falling off. But your wall may become more damaged. So, be cautious with this tactic.

There’s only one thing worse than not having wall stickers within your interior and it’s having wall stickers that won’t stick. Now, rest be assured that if you purchase premium wall decals from The Decal Guru, you won’t have to worry about this problem. However, if you’ve already purchased wall decals elsewhere and now have them drooping off your interior, here’s what you can do.
We just put up some decals in my DD (dear daughter) room. After about a week they are peeling off the wall. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on how to hang them back up. I was thinking wall paper paster or something, but don’t know if that is even made any more. LOL

We are having the same issues! We bought a self adhesive wall border and it completely fell off! We also bought a vinyl decal and it is starting to peel away. Curious what to do to!
But it’s already up there and drooping off the wall, so you need a solution. Grab some wallpaper paste and wallpaper your decals.

2) Don’t put them up until the paint has been on the walls for at least 72 hours (even though the outside layer of paint is dry to the touch after a few hours, the inside takes about 3 days to dry, and the solvents are leaching out to the outside during that time, destroying your adhesive)
While we’d like to believe these tips for wall decals that don’t stick are long-term solutions, they’re more like temporary fixes until you can replace them. So, save the hassle by shopping quality first.

did you follow the instructions when you hang them? where did you get them? if the adhesive isn’t working i’d call the company that made them. i don’t think i’d try to rehang them unless they were just really expensive and you can’t get the company to send you some new ones.
