NEW New bird food New bird care New bird feeders New wildlife New binoculars & scopes New living & home New toys New books New gardening
Just ordered my 4th pack for myself and a friend they look delightful and so far no birds have flown into my patio windows. I’m going to put some on the front of my house in between the lead lights for decorative purposes
I have tried all sorts of stickers but I have resorted to hanging a few old CD tied onto varying lengths of string on the outside. They dangle nicely and that has put off the birds. Yes they look strange but no more dead or injured birds!

Prevent birds flying into windows and doors by placing these decorative window stickers on the outside of the glass. These pretty stickers cling tight to any clean glossy surface, without adhesive, and peel off without trace.

Attaching stickers to the outside of windows is hardly a practical idea for levels above the ground floor especially when they are regularly cleaned by contractors – my office for example. in addition, evidence from the office and at home is that birds will fly into a window that reflects a clear path not just when they can see through to the other side.
I’ve picked up a very badly injured blackbird this morning that had flown into a window as evidence for both these points. The hanging CD sounds good but access still difficult. Any other ideas?

Although these look lovely, they seemed to attract more birds than deterred them! Two dead birds in the first couple of weeks, many more hitting the window and one small bird hovered around them for several hours! Wish I could recommend them but unfortunately we had to take ours down after a month.

We’d been delighted that out patio feeders had brought swarms of goldfinches to our garden. Sadly the bird strike rate on our patio doors went up 500% because they kept flying into the doors. I didn’t hold out much hope that these would work .
…and they didn’t. In fact we actually had more injured birds after we fitted them. Only solution was to move our feeders away from the house. Frankly these are very overpriced for what they are and they just don’t work.
RSPB response: Thank you for your review, I am sorry to hear that you are unhappy with this product and that you have had injured birds. We have not had feedback before regarding an increase in birds injuring themselves after these stickers being put up, however I will feed this back to the supplier and discuss with our Wildlife team to make sure they are still suitable.
I have had bird stickers on the windows for some years and needed a few more. The ones I already have peel off easily and can be re-applied when I want to wash the window but this version does not. It is not clear on the instructions whether you are meant to be able to re-position them but when I tried to do this 5 mins after the first application , the sticker tore in half – even through I was quite careful.
Not up to the same quality as my previous bird stickers. I also think that they are quite crude shapes. I don’t recommend this purchase.

These stickers work best if placed on the outside of the window. Make sure the glass is clean and dry before applying the stickers. They are particularly useful on windows where there is a clear view through the building, for instance from front to back.
Birds can mistake this clear view for a clear path and try to fly through. Something as simple as one of these stickers can help prevent birds flying into windows and getting hurt or even killed.

These are very nice to look at, very decorative, and good value for money. Unfortunately, I do not think they actually deter birds from flying into windows. In fact, I wonder if the birds see other birds ( the stickers) and assume that they are in free air and fly towards them.
I am not sure about the RSPB comment that there is ‘no evidence to suggest that window stickers…increase bird strikes.’ It seems to me that the reviews posted on here must represent some sort of ‘field test ‘ evidence, if only anecdotal.
I find the only sure way to prevent strikes is to keep the curtains closed!RSPB response – Thanks for your review. Unfortunately it is impossible to prevent all bird strikes on windows, however having a sticker of any kind on the window will make it easier for birds to acknowledge that there is something there that they cannot fly through.
Bird shapes are used as stickers as they are attractive to look at, there is no evidence that the birds actually recognise the silhouettes as another bird. We stock various designs of sticker, so there is always a choice available to help prevent window strikes.

Birds are unable to recognise a transparent pane of glass and every year many birds die after flying into windows and doors. You can help prevent this by applying these silhouettes of birds of prey to windows, doors, conservatories, bus shelters, etc.
The stickers are most effective when placed on the outside of windows. Each sheet contains three self-adhesive silhouettes made from high quality UV-resistant plastic film, which will last for many years outdoors.
In extreme cases up to 4 silhouettes may be needed for each square metre of window area. Normally 2 per square metre will suffice. Clean only with water and not with any abrasives.

Like a previous reviewer I found that these stickers look good and they adhere well. However, sadly, they do nothing to deter birds from flying into the windows. (They may even increase the likelihood of accidents).
RSPB response – Thanks for your review. We’re surprised to hear that you haven’t found them effective. The stickers work best if placed on the outside of windows, not the inside. There is no evidence to suggest that window stickers could increase bird-strikes.
